Let No Body Stop You: The Real Story Behind Pulze

Let No Body Stop You: The Real Story Behind Pulze

Because every girl deserves to feel confident, comfortable, and completely herself—no matter what her body is doing.

When "Mom Prep" Meets Reality Check

You know that moment when you think you've got this whole parenting thing figured out, and then life throws you a curveball? Yeah, that was me about a year ago.

My daughter was approaching puberty, and like any mom who's spent way too much time on parenting blogs, I thought I was so prepared. I'd done my research, talked to my mom friends, and everyone was singing the praises of period underwear. "Game-changer!" they said. "Perfect for first periods!" they promised.

So there I was, feeling like Super Mom, making these adorable little period prep packages for my daughter. One went in her dresser drawer (check!), one in her backpack (double check!), and then I went to put one in her dance bag...

Record scratch. Freeze frame.

That's when it hit me like a ton of bricks: dancers don't wear underwear with their leotards.

Suddenly, all my careful preparation felt useless. Was my barely-teenage daughter really supposed to jump straight to tampons? That felt... wrong. Really wrong.

The "Tampon Talk" That Changed Everything

I reached out to my dance mom squad (because let's be real, dance moms know everything), and they confirmed my worst fears. "Oh yeah," they said, "dancers just go straight to tampons. It sucks but it’s reality."

But here's the thing—I'd done my homework on tampons too, and what I learned made my stomach turn. These aren't just innocent little cotton products. We're talking about materials like arsenic and lead that have been linked to cancer, infertility, and other serious health issues. And we're expected to tell our 12-year-olds that this is their only option?

Plus, let's get real about first periods. They're unpredictable chaos. Light one day, heavy the next, sometimes nothing for months. Young bodies aren't ready for internal products, physically or emotionally. The whole situation felt like we were failing our daughters.

The Google Rabbit Hole That Started It All

Desperate for alternatives, I did what any millennial mom does: I Googled "period leotard."

And guess what? I actually found one! For about 2.3 seconds, I was elated.

Then I saw it.

This thing was... how do I put this nicely... absolutely hideous. Picture the most boring, unflattering, "I've given up on life" leotard you can imagine. It looked like something designed by someone who had never actually seen a teenage girl, let alone understood what makes them feel confident and beautiful.

I immediately knew my daughter would rather die than wear it. And honestly? I didn't blame her.

The Vent Session That Became a Mission

So I did what frustrated moms do best—I vented to my friends. "There has to be something better!" I kept saying. "Our daughters deserve different options!"

But the more we talked, the more we realized this wasn't just a dance problem. It was everywhere:

Gymnasts? No underwear.

Cheerleaders? Nope.

Runners in compression shorts (buns)? Definitely not.

Cyclists? Not happening.

Volleyball players? You get the picture.

Even athletes who could use internal products were constantly worried about leaks and embarrassing moments, especially when being active increases flow. We were all dealing with this problem, but somehow accepting that there was no good solution.

That's when it hit me: if no one else was going to fix this, maybe I had to.

From Frustrated Mom to Fabric Detective

What followed was the most intense year of my life. I became obsessed with research—fabrics, materials, absorption technology, comfort, style. I talked to manufacturers, athletes, teenagers, and more moms than I can count.

The question that drove me was simple: Could we integrate period protection directly into athletic wear in a way that was clean, sanitary, and—this part was crucial—actually cute?

Turns out, the answer was yes. But it wasn't easy.

I discovered that the needs went way beyond just periods. We needed incontinence protection (think moms), better bra support, and solutions for all the ways female bodies are different from male bodies. The athletic wear industry has been designed by men, for men, for decades. No wonder we were all struggling!

The Year of "Does This Make Me Look Like I'm Wearing a Diaper?"

Let me tell you, there were some rough prototypes. None of the factories with period liner patents knew how to integrate them into clothing.  I probably asked my daughter "Does this make you feel like you're wearing a diaper?" about a million times. (She's a saint for putting up with me.)

But slowly, we got there. We found fabrics that were thin but absorbent, comfortable but effective, and most amazingly - safe. We created designs that made girls feel amazing, not awkward. We solved the odor problem, the washing problem, the "Oh my gosh, can people tell?" problem.

Introducing Pulze: Where Function Meets Fabulous

After a year of intense research, testing, late nights and probably way too much caffeine, I'm incredibly proud to introduce Pulze—the first brand completely dedicated to designing fashionable athletic wear that actually addresses the unique needs of female bodies.

Our products are:

Clean and odorless (because nobody has time for that stress)

Super absorbent but thin (no diaper vibes here, they feel like cotton liners)

Easy to wash (because clothes need to be reusable)

Absolutely adorable and comfortable (because feeling cute is non-negotiable)

But most importantly? They work. My daughter loves them, and that's honestly the review that matters most to me.

The Real Goal: Confidence Without Compromise

This whole journey taught me something important: our daughters shouldn't have to choose between participating in the activities they love and feeling comfortable in their own bodies. They shouldn't have to worry about leaks, or rush to use products that might not be safe, or wear ugly clothes just because they're "functional."

They deserve to feel confident, beautiful, and completely themselves—no matter what their bodies are going through.

What's Next?

This is just the beginning. We're constantly working on new designs, new solutions, and new ways to support female athletes of all ages. And we want to hear from you! Your feedback helps us create products that truly work for real girls living real lives.

Whether you're a mom trying to navigate these conversations with your daughter, or a teen athlete tired of worrying about your period interfering with your passion, we see you. We've got you.
